Curriculum – Level 1


As a new speaker, finding your message is the most important activity for you to accomplish. Your message is reflected in who you have been, who you are and who you aspire to be. Authentic Speaking U Level 1 Membership will help you examine your life from multiple perspectives so that you can find your most authentic message, who it is for, and the best way to present it.  As a result you will have a unique identity to separate you from other speakers with a similar message.

An overview of Level 1 curriculum is as follows:

MODULE 1

R.   Real Message – There is a message within you that is knocking to come out. Your message comes from your Passion, Experience and Expertise. It also represents the ‘threads’ of your life, themes that keep repeating. Finding your message generally takes time. When it represents who you have been, who you are and who you want to be – that’s when you are clear that it is the right message.

Our program takes you through multiple exercises, videos and audios for you to be clear on what to speak about. You will read, listen and reflect as well as discuss your progress on our monthly calls.

This is the first and most important step in the process to strengthen your message and become a professional speaker. Allow the process to take its time and reveal itself to you.  This also means having a speaker identity that will stay with you throughout your speaking career.

Lesson 2   Purpose – Exercises that enable you to examine ‘why’ you want to speak

Lesson 3   Listening for Your Message 1 – Audio that helps you examine the origin of your message

Lesson 4   Listening for Your Message 2 – Audio that takes you deeper into examining the origin of your message

Lesson 5   Uncovering Your Authentic Message – Audio that helps you apply the information from the previous audios to your message

Lesson 6   Message Coaching 1 – Audio that helps you gain even more clarity about your message

Lesson 7   Speaker Identity – Exercises to prompt you to gain your personal identity as a speaker

Lesson 8  Message Coaching 2 – Video that offers coaching to help you finalize your message and identity as a speaker

MODULE 2

A.    Audience – Who is your target market? These are the people who will most benefit from hearing your message. They are looking for you. Can you find them?

You must first know who your message appeals to – who will it help, who will benefit most, how will it help them? Where do they hang out and do they have the funds to pay for your speaking or your product?

All of these questions are addressed in this Module.

MODULE 3

P.   Presentation – Presentation is a combination of content and energy. Content refers to your authentic message and energy is your most natural way of presenting.

We suggest that you have strong content and a very natural, authentic way of presenting.

You can structure your presentation as a keynote, seminar, tele-summit, facilitation, training, panel discussion and many other ways. Which is most comfortable for you?

How do you put your message together and how do you most effectively deliver it to be sure you are memorable?

Lesson 3    Presentation Options – Video that gives additional clarity about the options available for you to deliver your message

Lesson 5   Presentation Tips from a Speaker Icon – Interview with Willie Jolley who is a successful international speaker

Lesson 6   Putting it All Together – Video that provides tips including where to start speaking

 

BONUS 1  Expanding the Presentation – Exercises that give you options on ways to construct your presentation

BONUS 2  Polishing the Presentation – Information that will help you improve your presentation skills

 

Module Delivery
It is important that you take your time as you go through the lessons. We want you to absorb the information, reflect on it and make sure the decisions you make as you progress are aligned with each other. This takes time and patience.  

On the other hand, we recognize that some people are ready to move quickly because they have thought about the important elements of becoming a speaker and just need the format to guide them.  

To address the range of needs, the lessons will be delivered to you every three days. Save each lesson to review when you are ready and take time to reflect as you go.

Group Coaching  
Every 4th Tuesday you participate in group coaching session. On these calls, you can ask any question and receive an answer. Or you can forward a question by email.   Even when you do not have a question, listen to the questions and answers of others. It is likely that you may have the same question soon.   Group coaching membership for Level 1 is six months.
