How will you distribute information about your message and your availability as a speaker? How will you market yourself?

Speakers typically make one of two major mistakes when embarking on a career as a professional speaker. Some begin marketing too early, even before they have found their most authentic message. They spend the money to let people know they exist then find, a few months later, that they have changed their message. Then they have to start all over again. This is costly and sends a message to meeting planners that you are confused.

The second major mistake speakers make is not understanding the importance of marketing. Many speakers feel that since their message is so important people will flock to them. Yet in this society of millions of entrepreneurs, millions of speakers and multiple messages vying for attention, it is important to understand that without a marketing/distribution system, your message will not go anywhere.
